My Story

I was born and raised in Nigeria and moved to the United States in my 20s. I had just completed my Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and went on to get a Master’s degree in Engineering Management. I taught myself to code and worked as a Software Engineer for over a decade.

Somewhere along the way, I began to have a lot of issues with my health. I have always been a lifelong migraine sufferer but was misdiagnosed till I came to the United States. Then I began to have strange auras accompanying the migraine as well as constant nausea, dizziness, bloating, joint pain, and other classic symptoms of inflammation.

After several doctors and specialist visits, I decided to take matters into my own hands and change how I ate. I immediately went on a low carb diet and began to feel better. My migraines completely disappeared, which was totally unexpected. In 2018, I had my thyroid completely removed due to benign nodules. But with a low carb and keto diet, I have managed to prevent rapid weight gain, which is quite common after a thyroidectomy.

So you see, a low carb diet is a way of life for me. It keeps me healthy and migraine-free, and it brings me great joy to share the recipes that have made my low carb journey easy and enjoyable!

About Low Carb Africa

I have always loved cooking and come from a family of great cooks. My grandma owned a very popular restaurant in her town, and my mum is an amazing cook whose dishes are famous for leaving guests drooling. So it was only natural that I followed in the footsteps of great women who had gone before me.

One thing you are guaranteed never to find on my blog is a bland meal with no flavor. My dishes are seasoned to perfection, and they taste amazing no matter what culture or ethnicity you belong to.
